Thank you for selecting Glen Canyon Kayak Guides.

If you have not already done so, please let us know what type of kayak you would like for your trip; single or tandem.

The Glen Canyon Recreational Area requires a vehicle pass for all vehicles entering the park.  You will be required to purchase this pass as we enter the park.  A 1-7 day vehicle pass costs $15.

Day Tours:  On the full day kayak tours we will try to cover two canyons and on the half day kayak tours we will cover one canyon.  You can expect to be out 5 hours for a full day tour and 3 hours for a half day tour.  Full day tours include lunch.

What to bring:

  • Shoes you can get wet
  • Water bottle or camelback type pouch
  • Sunscreen (minimum 30 SPF)
  • Sun hat
  • Camera
  • Small bag for personal belongings

*We will provide a dry bag for your tour

Overnight Tours:  The overnight tours are motorboat supported.  You can bring duffle bags of personal gear, as we are not pressed for space on the boat.  The boat ride is about 2.5 hours to the base camp and we will set up upon arrival.

All meals are provided and include items such as coffee, cereal, oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, deli style sandwiches, fruit, chips and cookies for lunch and BBQ items such as burgers, brats and chicken or rice based dishes including chicken or Pork for dinner.  Dietary restrictions should be explained to Red Canyon Kayak Guides as soon as possible so we can be prepared.  Drinks for all meals include juice, milk, instant tea, lemonade and water.  We do not provide soda or alcohol so if you want these items you must bring them with you.

We carry VHF Marine band radio and cell phones in case of emergency.  The weather can be warm in the summer months so be prepared to keep fluids in you at all times and bring a long sleeve shirt to keep yourself covered.  Our goal is to deliver a safe and fun tour on Lake Powell and these items will help insure that.

What to bring:

  • Items listed above
  • Flashlight or headlamp
  • Biodegradable liquid soap
  • Walking/hiking shoes

Optional items:

  •
    • Towel
    • Small pillow
    • Personal alcohol
    • Reading material for down time
    • Kayak gloves if you have sensitive hands
    • Paddle or jacket if you prefer to use your own

Please remember, our guides are paid a daily rate and rely on gratuities just like a waiter or bellman so a tip is always appreciated at the end of the trip.  A typical tip is usually 10-20 percent of the tour cost.  Thank you again for choosing Red Canyon Kayak Guides.
